This is the Book (on CD) called New View of the Constitution written by John Taylor of Caroline. He called his self that because of another well known person of the same name from another locality. This Cd is in Text file so you can use word search in it. This is not a photo copy of each page loke my other books. In my studies I have came to the conclusion that John Taylor is responsible for the Civil War in more ways than one. Most students may not be aware that the debates in the constitutional convention were not published until 1818 in which no lawyer/jurist or Statesmen could really review just what went on in the Constitutional convention of 1789. John Taylor combed vividly through these newly released papers and exposed many governmental errors already in practice and was found to be using more of a national form of government than that of the Federal form of government that was passed. This is the book he wrote and showed that a Federal form of Government was ratified and not a national form. He expounded on States Rights and in effect woke up a lot of sleeping Congressmen. John C Calhoun was one of the sleepy Statesmen of the time that once reading his book became aware just how far off the actual ratified form the Federal government was practicing. If you know much about Calhoun then you will know the hot disputes that took place with the Boston Mesmerizers. A book that cut so deep and was so famed that one would have to question Joseph Story in is expositions when making claim that nationalism was the choice of the conventionist. When reading the debates of that convention it was clear that it did start out to be a national government. Madison had the original draft going that direction, but when all the States finally got to the convention, the very first thing they struck out of the proposed Constitution was the very words "National government" and replaced it with "The United States". Proof enough, but he has a full book to keep on convincing. I could go on here but you need to know first that this book can be very hard to read, John Taylor no doubt did not expect common laymen to read his works because he writes assuming that the reader already understands things, so if you are a new student of law and constitutional history then be ready to strain to understand. This is not meant to dis-sway the student from reading this but just to let you know up front that you need some toned in information already understood or you may find yourself wondering what in the world is he saying, but if you have been into "original" intent and meanings then you will enjoy how strong this man's arguments are and dare anyone to disprove him. No one will. A note of interest here. One of the main arguments that Taylor used were the very definitions of key words such as the word "Federal", the word "Congress", The word "State" Most of you that are reading this right now may want to scurry to your Webster Dictionary to really study the meaning of these words, but it will do you no good because since these words meant what they meant and proved State Sovereignty and that the government in 1789 formed a "Federal" government that then meant a confederacy or a compact for external affairs etc. But just before the end of the War that came against these doctrines of States Rights well backed up by definition, then they falsified these definitions in the 1864 Webster’s Dictionary. So you will have to find a pre 1864 Webster to know the true meaning. I have many pre civil war dictionaries and through the 1863 where all of these kept the true meanings of these words, then the 1864 falsified edition. Sorry but I was not there to stop this deceit and to this day Webster’s Dictionaries has misled the public as to what "Federal" means, they refuse to this day to even hint as to it's real meaning and has even destroyed it even more than the 1864 did. What A State is, and what a Congress is etc. Other choice words falsified that year was Delegate, E Pluribus Unum (Even the Motto???) Alliance and there are more. All in one publication. All these words even all the way up to 1863 had the true definitions in them, but with the guiding hand of Noah Porter and William Wheeler, we little ole nobodies doin need kno nutun any mo about deem words. Sorry about the sarcasm but what else can be said? Check for your self, look even into the Oxford English Dictionary, Look into ANY pre Civil War Dictionary and you will see what I am saying. Thanks for John Taylor. ,I may die a prisoner of the new national government but I will die knowing and keeping the truth of the old Federal Government.
